Cyanotype Printmaking with Ha Neul On 온하늘 on Saturday September 21st
We’re so excited to introduce you to Ha Neul On 온하늘, Ha Neul is a film photographer and mixed media textile artist based in Bushwick, NY. Their process primarily consists of cyanotype printmaking on fabric that is then quilted together by hand using Korean traditional sewing techniques.
In early September Ha Neul will lead us through the basics of cyanotype printmaking so we can create our own unique prints through this vintage process. Developed by botanists during the Victorian era, cyanotype is an early ancestor of modern photography. Scientists developed this technique to record fine details of plant life. The word blueprint actually stems from this antique printmaking method. This camera-less process renders stunning white and Prussian blue images. Who doesn’t love the rich hue of Prussian blue?
You will leave this workshop with prints to frame and treasure over time. This workshop will take place from 1 -3Pm on Saturday, September 21st.
