WELLBEING THROUGH EXPRESSIVE ARTS

THE MEADOW DUMBO is a creative sanctuary in a busy city.  We are a community-based expressive arts studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn that offers creative arts workshops for all ages and hosts special events and gatherings for friend and family groups and professional organizations.

Founded by JULIE Ann Flynn

Julie is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and non-clinical arts therapist who is interested in exploring what it means to live well in an unwell world. Her work introduces time-tested technologies that build strong communities, encourage growth, and usher in positive change. She’s especially interested in how contemplative practice and expressive arts can support organizational and individual transformation.

THE MISSION

The purpose of The Meadow DUMBO is to provide a sacred space for collective well-being, individual creative expression, and cultural regeneration.   All of our offerings are rooted in mindfulness, involve reflection, and build community. We believe the city needs more opportunities and spaces for creativity, connection, and reflection. We value gatherings that are multigenerational and culturally inclusive.

THE EXPERIENCE

“Julie‘s art studio is absolutely gorgeous. I felt instantly relaxed from the moment I walked in. Julie gave clear instructions and welcomed everyone of all levels. She let everyone stay a little late to finish their projects, which was greatly appreciated! I have already told several people about this studio and cannot wait to come back for another class that I already set up for in a few weeks.” — Catherine De Wann, educator at PS8
